October is shaping up to be one heck of a ride.

Academically, I face 3 quizzes, 2 mid-terms and 1 essay and a lot of reading. Professionally, I have to fulfill my duties as an RA and as an intern at the local Congressman’s Dennis Cardoza’s office. Finally, this month is when the UC Merced Student Government Committee on Constitution and By-Laws will write the constitution. In other words, October is going to be a battle, but I am prepared to kick some major butt.

If you have any words of encouragement or advice, then please leave a comment. I would appreciate it. ;-)

My Goals

  • Eat healthy, exercise daily, get plenty of sleep, relax often and take care of myself

Get Awesome grades: Even though I did too many As, I learned a lot from the first half of the semester. I now have a better understanding of where I need to focus more time and effort and realized that the university is no joke. It’s hard, rigorous and demanding, but I can do it.

Complete and turn in on time my HIST 100 Case Study Prospectus on time: I turned it in and have received some good feedback from professor Herken. He is helping me further define my case study on the Central Valley.

Plan and implement at least 2 programs as an RA: On October 6 was my “One-forth program. It was for my residents and it focused on their psychosocial health. From the feedback I received, it was great; however, a 1 hour program is too long. :-P

Complete draft of my Truman Scholarship Policy Proposal: Draft is complete, but more work is to be done before February 2006 when the proposal as well as my entire application is due.

My policy proposal is to transform California government, politics and society. I am proposing to increase the size of the California State Assembly from 80 to at least 160 seats. The goal is to create a government that is more responsive to the peoples’ needs and by increasing the number of seats in the Assembly, more people will be represented and have a voice in government.

Read my California’s Legislature Is Too Small, Reform is Needed post for more information. I will create a page on my website detailing my policy proposal and research because I seriously intend to pursue this endeavor.

Read An Unfinished Life and Truman: I haven’t started the latter book, but so far the former is great and I hope to finish it this month.

Continue to have “MAD (Inside joke for My Madera Hall peeps) fun!: Fun, fun and more fun! I love being an RA (most of the times :-P ).
